8 weeks old!!

I can't believe that my little man is 8 weeks old already. Time has gone so fast. I can't believe how much they change is such a little time.

Milo is a great baby. I was worried that because Ava was so good we wouldn't get another one. He never really cries, only when he is hungry or tired. We have been on a schedule for some time now, it's great. He eats and sleeps at the same time every day. He goes to bed at 8:30pm when Ava does. He then only wakes to eat at about 3am and then again about 6am.

Ava loves him and he loves her. She'll get right in his face and in a high pitched voice go, "Hi big man." She'll say it over and over, it's so cute. If he gets fussy when I'm changing him Ava just has to talk to him and he quites right down and just stares at her.

He rolls over from his tummy to his back already. He did that for the first time when he was 4 weeks old. I couldn't believe it. He smiled for the first time when he was 4 1/2 weeks. He's smiling more than ever now. I can't get enough of it. I fall in more in love with him every time I see it.

Over all it's been a great 8 weeks. I'm excited to watch him grow but sad to loose my baby boy. We feel so complete now that he is here. We are so blessed to have 2 wonderful kids.

Oh mom!

He was waving to me.

I can't put my arms down!

Such a good helper.

Ready for your close up?

So sleepy.

My babies!

True love.

Tummy time.

His 1st smile!!

Milo Clifford is here!

Milo is finally here! He was born October 16th at 5:59pm. It was a long day but well worth it.
I had gone in for my regular appointment on Wednesday. I had the usual, NST, Ultrasound, labs, and Dr. app. I had the NST fist. As soon as they hooked me up I knew something was up. Milo's heart rate was really high. It was reaching up in the 190's and 200's. They took my blood pressure and that was also really high. The NST nurse went and found my Dr. and he said to go on to the ultrasound and then meet with him but it that it was looking like he was going to be born that week instead of the next. The ultrasound went fine. I met with Dr. Widstrom and he asked how I was feeling. I told him I had been queasy and had a bit of a headache. He said with all that was going on (including the Cholestasis) that it was better to deliver sooner rather than later.
We went in the next day at 11am. I was supposed to have him at 2 but my doctor was delayed. What a long wait we had. The took me to pre-opp at 2:15. We sat there for over 3 hours. It was awful. I didn't get out of recovery until 8pm. I was sad that Ava wasn't able to come that night but it worked out for the best. I was so tired.
Ava was the first to come and see him the next day. She was so excited! It was cute. I was in the hospital until Sunday at 11am. I was happy to be home.
Things are going well. He sleeps a lot of course. He's good at night, I have to wake him to eat and then he is out again.
Bjorn has been the biggest help and I'm going to be sad to see him go back to work tomorow.

Happy Birthday Baby!

I found out today that I'm having my baby on October 21st! I will have a c-section at 8am. I have to be at the hospital at 5am so it's going to be a long day. I'm so excited but am nervous to be away from Ava. She has been VERY attached to Mommy lately. I think she knows it's getting close.

I still have to have weekly fetal monitoring and labs.

It went by so fast and I can't believe it's almost here!

Fun at home.

We grew some sunflowers so Ava and I picked off some of the seeds for the squirrels. We are going to hand the rest in the trees so they can eat them off.

We made the easiest peanut butter cookies ever.
1 c. peanut butter, 1 c. sugar and 1 egg.
They were really good and Ava had a lot of fun.

She really liked licking off the spatula.

As you can see, she was really good at it.

Just look at those eyes.

Another app.

I had another weekly check-up today. It was one of the fastest ones so that was nice.

My doctor said that my levels have gone up a little bit. I'm on another medication to help get rid of my bile acids. I have never paid more for a medication. It cost $100 and that's my copay. That's just for a 20 day supply. It is a powder that I have to mix with a drink or applesauce. Not really looking forward to it. I guess it's pretty gritty. I have to take it 3 times a day.

Next week they are going to start monitoring the baby. I have an ultrasound first, the stress test next, an appointment after that, and finally labs. It starts at 9 and I'm hoping that I'll get done by 12:30.

With the ultrasound they are going to check my fluid, the growth of the baby, and then the kidneys again.

Only a couple more weeks.....

Cholestasis

I had another check-up today. It turns out that I have Cholestasis. It's a liver disease you can get during pregnancy. I guess what happens is that my body is not getting rid of my bile. It builds up under the skin and that's what causes the itching. I started itching really bad about 1 month ago. My doctor did some tests measuring something in my liver. He said normal levels are 3.1 and mine were 8.4. He put me on some meds to help with the itching and another to help break down the bile. I also have to go in for weekly monitoring now. As of now he said the will probably take the baby at 38 weeks by c-section. Of course this could change if I become worse. This disease will go away sometime after I deliver.

I also have to go back in for another ultrasound at 34 weeks to check the little guys kidneys again. They are still a little dilated. Like my doctor said, I just can't have a boring pregnancy.

The Air Show.

For Bjorn's birthday this year, I got him tickets for the Air Show in Duluth. We had a great time. They were calling for stormy, cloudy weather but as soon as the show started the clouds cleared and it was just beautiful out, we both have the sunburns and great tan lines to prove it. Bjorn loved it, especially seeing all the older plans from WWII.

Moon Rock

PBY Catalina

P-38 Lightning. This was Bjorn's favorite.

The Blues Angles finished the show. They were awesome. I loved how loud they were and how close together and to the ground they flew. We would both love to go again.
